Energy auditing services to suit your project, your goals, and your budget.

For homeowners

Whether you want to reduce your utility costs and carbon emissions, make your home more comfortable, or upgrade to a heat pump, a home energy audit is a great place to start. I tailor the process to you and your home.

Here’s how it usually works: I meet you at your house, we talk about your goals, I do an inspection for 2-3 hours and then send you a report of my findings and recommendations.

Price generally ranges from $150-$450. This audit can qualify for the 25C tax credit (30% up to $400), so a $450 audit with energy model would cost about $300 after credit.

Although the IRA rebates aren’t yet available in Montana, I’m looking forward to providing certified energy audits to access them as soon as possible!

What’s included:

  • Whole-home inspection including building envelope (insulation, windows etc), HVAC, appliances, and other energy loads.

  • Blower door test to measure building air-tightness.

  • Thermal camera analysis to help pinpoint opportunities for air-sealing and insulation.

  • Electrification consultation for adding heat pumps, EV charging etc.

  • Overview of existing and future tax credits and rebates to help fund recommendations (25C tax credits, IRA rebates, utility incentives).

  • Utility bill analysis and energy modeling (optional, required for IRA tax credits and rebates).

  • Custom-written comprehensive report emailed to you generally within a few days.

For contractors

I’m available to work with building contractors, insulators, HVAC professionals and other trades and entities in a variety of ways.

I’m a licensed and insured independent contractor with blower door kit.

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) rebates are a historic opportunity to improve the energy efficiency of existing housing. Many of the rebates will require an energy auditing component, and I’m closely following the rebate roll-out with Montana DEQ. If you’re interested in incorporating the rebates into your business, let’s talk.

Home performance is a growing and evolving field in Montana, and I’d love to hear your ideas for how we can collaborate.

Services provided:

  • ACH50 blower door testing for code compliance.

  • Energy auditing for IRA rebates (pending roll-out, hopefully mid 2025).

  • Custom third-party verification (bath fan CFM, etc).

  • Duct tightness testing? Let’s talk.

  • Manual J for HVAC? Let’s talk.

  • Interested in the 45L tax credit for new construction?

  • Interested in DOE Home Energy Score?
