Hi, I’m Marshall, I live in Livingston, Montana. I started Denizen to help with an expected shortage of energy auditors with the launch of the Inflation Reduction Act. I’m excited to help people make their homes more energy efficient while taking advantage of incentives through the IRA and other programs.

I’m certified by the Building Performance Institute as a Building Analyst Professional, a qualification recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy for the Energy Efficient Home Improvement (Section 25C) tax credit, which was expanded under the IRA.

Energy auditing draws from my education, experience and enthusiasm for helping people. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College and a Master of Science in Sustainable Design from University of Texas-Austin. I’ve worked as a carpenter on a variety of new construction and remodels, and more recently as a journalist and science writer.

My job is to listen to you to understand your goals and concerns, apply best practices in energy auditing and building science, and provide clear and comprehensive written recommendations to help you move forward. I’m also available to work with building contractors in a variety of ways. I’d love to here from you — contact me or learn more about my services.
